South Essex Junior Golf Academy

Junior Golf Academy Essex

Passport Classes

After school club group sessions are a fun and informal introduction to learn to play golf, tailored for children of all age groups and abilities. This will offer Juniors the opportunity to work through the Golf Foundations Junior Golf Passport. An excellent vehicle to learn all aspects of golf; the regularity of swinging a golf club, practicing and hitting balls allows the children to progress gradually and at their own pace.

What is the Junior Golf Passport?

The Junior Golf Passport is a comprehensive, progressive, structured programme designed to help young people learn about playing the game of golf. The programme encourages and motivates beginners through the achievement of attainment targets combined with rewards and the most important element – FUN! The passport provides each child with a record of achievement as they develop their skills and knowledge.

How does it work?

The programme covers the five core elements of the game: Putting, Short Game, Long Game, Playing and the Golfers Code.
For each of these modules there are a series of targets that get progressively more challenging. The targets are grouped into six levels:

Preliminary Level

The Tri-Golf level is for young children using the Tri-Golf equipment and resources. The children can be assessed as they take part in the games and activities.

Start Levels 1 and 2:

This section relates to an introduction to basic coaching for young people beginning the scheme at this level. Also, those who have completed the Tri-Golf section should be ready to make the transition to coaching using conventional golf equipment.

Play Levels 3, 4 and 5:

This section contains targets that relate to the experience of playing on a golf course. The aim is to enable the young player to play on a course independently having developed an understanding of the fundamental skills and traditions of the game.
The aim is to progress through the levels.
On completion of ALL levels a player will have completed his/her Junior Golf Passport and will receive a certificate.

Advanced Academy

After your child has attained a certain level on the Golf Passport they will be invited to progress to the Advanced Academy or even the Elite Programme which focuses more on skills competitions to develop the playing side of golf.

Equipment

Bring their own clubs if they have them, or they can be provided.

Tri Golf & Golf Extreme

Now children can get involved.
Sport is playing a big part in the Government's plans to get the nation healthy and golf is a great way for people to participate. This is because people of all ages can play the game. We are working with the local school sports partnership to introduce Tri-Golf and Golf Extreme into schools so that as many kids as possible can try golf.
It is for this reason that we use Tri-Golf at a very early age to introduce children to the game, so when it comes to playing golf for real then they will have a great head start.
Tri-Golf is a fun system that includes lots of different games using plastic clubs, balls, cones and targets and can be played inside or out. It teaches many things other than golf including honesty, respect, co-operation, self motivation, concentration & perseverance.

Golf Extreme

Golf Xtreme is the golf game and programme for secondary schools that is related to the golf you see Lee Westwood play but is actually a completely new game for young teenagers.
Golf Xtreme combines some of the best parts of the traditional sport – hitting balls a long way at interesting targets – with scoring systems you can create yourself, team games that include everyone and keep you fit, whilst still taking into account safety considerations for both teachers and pupils. It is all designed with the 11 to 15 year old in mind – the boy and girl who’s outgrown Tri-Golf.
The vital requirement for the Golf Foundation in developing Golf Xtreme was to listen to and act on advice from teachers and Partnership Development Managers during the design, manufacture and testing of this innovative equipment, and to set this work beside an intelligent set of resources to help teachers deliver an innovative programme. The result is one of the most exciting additions to the school sports scene for a long time.
Recognising that the young teenager can be difficult to please, Golf Xtreme will excite this pupil, lay the foundations of a good golf game, and keep him/her active and enthused. In turn, the Golf Foundation can train the teacher on every aspect needed to get the most out of this new idea in school sport.

All golf coaches are CRB checked, Child Protection Qualified, & First Aid Qualified.
